How it works
Paracetamol is thought to work in the brain to reduce pain and fever. It is one of the safest first-line painkillers when taken at the correct dose.
How to take
Adults and children over 12: one or two tablets every 4–6 hours as needed. Maximum 8 tablets (4g) in 24 hours from all sources.
Possible side effects
- Side effects are rare at recommended doses.
- Rarely: skin rash or allergic reaction.
Important warnings
- Never exceed 4g (8 x 500mg tablets) in 24 hours from any source — overdose can cause serious liver damage.
- Speak to a pharmacist if you have liver or kidney problems.
- Safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding at the recommended dose.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the original packaging. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
