How it works

Provides a stronger anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect than the 250mg strength, by blocking prostaglandin production. Used for moderate pain, inflammatory joint conditions or short-term flare-ups.

How to take

Adults: usually one tablet (500mg) twice a day with or after food, or as directed. Take with a full glass of water. Pharmacist may recommend stomach protection alongside.

Possible side effects

  • Indigestion, stomach pain or nausea
  • Headache or dizziness
  • Diarrhoea or constipation
  • Less commonly: stomach ulcers, raised blood pressure or kidney effects

Important warnings

  • Take with food to reduce stomach upset.
  • Not suitable if you have a history of stomach ulcers, severe heart, kidney or liver disease.
  • Avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy; speak to a pharmacist if pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your pharmacist if you take blood thinners, steroids, SSRIs or other NSAIDs.
  • Stomach protection (e.g. omeprazole) is often recommended at this strength.

Storage

Store below 25°C in the original packaging. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
